Kindergarten-5th Grade

The Curriculum: 252 Basics

For children in Kindergarten through 5th grade we use the 252 Basics curriculum.  With 252 Basics, every month we focus on a different virtue.  We spend the different weeks within the month learning about what the virtue really means in ways that kids can really understand and how to apply it to everyday life.

The 252 Basics curriculum also includes the FamilyTimes Virtue Pack for you to take home and enhance your child's spiritual growth.  We would love to team up with you and generate a steady flow of biblical truths into the life of your child! The FamilyTimes Virtue Pack is designed to help equip parents with easy to use tools to make the most of everyday moments together.  These tools are based on the biblical model that teaches that the home should be the primary place where a child learns about God.  Deuteronomy 6:7 says, "Impress [virtues] upon your children.  Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up."  FamilyTimes Virtue Packs provide activities to be used once a week during each of these four family times:

  • Meal Time: This multi-paneled card contains cool ideas and conversation starters for weekly family discussions at the dinner table.
  • Drive Time: This CD includes an upbeat recording for kids called KidJam, tips for parents called Parenting Matters, and an original song about each pack's virtue.
  • Bed Time: Written in up-to-date/relevant language, these four bible story cards are provided for parents to read with their child once a week at bedtime.
  • Morning Time: Four cards are included for parents to write their own specific words of encouragement to their child throughout the month.

Each of these FamilyTimes Virtue Packs cover the virtue being discussed for the month and can be purchased at the KidZone table for $10 per month.

You can also pick up refrigerator door cards every week at the KidZone table.  These cards show all of the basics discussed that week and include possible questions to ask your child to enhance their understanding of the lesson.
